First, I want to thank you for visiting my page.
I am a motorsports broadcaster, woodworking hobbyist, and amateur shade tree mechanic. I have had a passion for creating, building, and fixing since I was young.
My broadcasting career started while I was in college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, where I studied Radio, Television, and Film. In addition to working for the school station, I also did the overnight shift at a local country music station, KSAM – Thunder 101.7.
Once I left college, I immediately started working in Dallas/Fort Worth at KEGL – 97.1 The Eagle. I started doing overnights, then gravitated to mornings at what was then the biggest and best Rock station in town.
With the free time I had, I also started working with my father-in-law remodeling office buildings. That turned into me leaving radio and working as a home builder for two years.
I din’t give up the microphone all together, though. I had also been working part time as the PA announcer at Texas Motor Speedway. After three years of doing PA, they offered me a full-time job in 2001 to run the Dirt Track. I jumped at the opportunity. In my second year, I added the responsibility of overseeing the dedicated men and women of the Fire, EMS, and clean up crews. I then became General Manager of our Legends Car dealership, where I sold cars and parts, ran a racing school, and promoted races throughout the state of Texas.
When TMS added a second NASCAR weekend to the annual schedule in 2005, I was given the opportunity that put me on the path that I am still on today. I was asked to create a motorsports radio program, which we syndicated throughout Texas and across the country.
That weekly show became a huge success and led me to start work in 2006 with my great friend, Doug Rice. Doug is the President of the Performance Racing Network (PRN). PRN does the national radio broadcasts for about 1/3 of the NASCAR schedule. I am honored to be a part of that team, and have been fortunate to work in every broadcast position from the anchor booth, to turn announcer, to my main gig as a pit road reporter.
In 2013, I added another boss, Daniel Norwood at SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Channel 90. Daniel and I had talked from time to time about me joining his team. When the opportunity came up, I gladly jumped in. I have had the opportunity to host shows with the best of the best, and legends in motorsports like Buddy Baker, Kenny Wallace, Larry McReynolds, Chocolate Myers, Mike Skinner, and more.
I currently host The Late Shift on Monday and Tuesday nights, Press Pass on Saturdays, and the Pre and Post-Race shows before and after every Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. And if you listen, you know I never turn down an opportunity to work any other show when asked.
When the demands became too great, I left TMS in 2014 to focus purely on broadcasting with PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Now that I work from home, I have been able to focus on my other passions – woodworking and automotive repair. I like to build and tinker. I have always been a DIY guy. I like to build and fix my own things. Maybe it’s because I am cheap, or because I enjoy it – or both. Either way, I like to try my hand at something before paying someone else to do it.
I have found that a great resource for learning crafts and mechanics has been the internet, and more specifically, YouTube, which is why I have created my own channels and websites to share my knowledge and experiences in the hope that it helps someone else.
Now that you’ve read about my journey, you can also keep up with my Vlogs, where I share life on the road and at home.
If you made it this far down the page, I truly thank you for having enough of an interest to make it to the end.
Sincerely,
Brad
